I started watching a new anime called "Summer Pockets" and after getting soaked by a sudden wave the MC took his shirt off and encountered another inexplicably topless guy, only for both of them to be called "flashers" by a female lifeguard... I wish all genders had the right to go top free regardless of location instead of only "people who look male," but at least chastising men for taking their shirts off while out walking is a start towards equality 😂

(though one wonders if it was a top free woman would they still say "HALF naked" or just "naked" like Americans would...)
There needs to be a solid market for mid-range GPUs that offer good-enough performance at really good prices, and both Intel and AMD are in a position to provide that.
Let nvidia run away with it at the top end. It's clear gamers who chase top end performance are always going to pick nvidia, so it's a better business move imo to pursue the greater majority of the market that just wants something affordable and competent.

I tried a weird strategy on Lemmy and so far it seems to works.
There were 2-3 dudes systematically downvoting everything I post.
So what I did was artificially create myself a fan base consisting of just others accounts of me and upvoting everything. So with all those "fake" accounts and the few people following me for real, the post stay positive even with some moronic downvoters.
However, when posts already have 4-5 upvotes, the downvoters are surprisingly not present.
So my guess is they just want to demoralize newcomers by quickly making their post negatives. As soon as you gain a real audience, they move away, proving the fact they are assholes.
If you ever feel helpless like you have no power as just one citizen to effect change, just remember that last week we held a party so big it made the Butthurt Toddler In Chief bomb Iran.

I did not forsee being able to uh... add one-click pre-composed responses via javascript to this when I first used HTML to make version 1 but oh god it's real fucking hot to have actual triggers even if I've not been hypno'd to have them. Also, hilariously, when I went to debug a "Best viewed in Firefox" modal using Microsoft Edge, I actually legit had to add in a <meta charset="UTF-8" /> tag in the head because Edge apparently randomly defaults to ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8 (I wasn't able to find a definitive answer with a quick search and I think it just tries to guess...?) while other more civilized web browsers just default to UTF-8. 😂
I may have to steal the collar one for my control collar >.> Have managed to break some of the programming around it. Bit not all. So it can still bind and such. Could see there being a subroutine in there that makes me have to tell people how to subdue the nanoweapon if required >.>

Now that I've slept on what I've made and decided I'm happy enough with it after a very minor color tweak, I've got something to present for Pride Month!
I've made another custom-for-me pride flag just for funsies, compositing a variation of the the eldritchine gender flag that I found some months back (<mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Eldrit…>), latex fetish pride colors & bands, and the otherkin great heptagram, in a gloriously eldritchian creation whose geometry was *annoying* to figure out!

It is important to known that you have MANY options, and that you shouldn't be afraid to pursue them, even if people may not understand them, because it's your body, and you transition for YOU and not to meet other people's criteria.
it's worth noting that the availability of this varies by region — the last we heard (admittedly, back in 2023) was that it was nearly impossible to find a surgeon who would do this in the US.
but it is an option, and absolutely one that folks deserve to be aware of when choosing body modification!
@cumrade_cam @tully More surgeons are interested in attempting atypical things than people think. I'm just hoping to open up the conversation more, so people are emboldened to ask, and potentially, to give us more surgeons with more options as more people actually ask about those options.
that's a great attitude, and an admirable goal. More options is better. Not everyone will have either the emotional bandwidth to hear "no" repeatedly though; or the financial reserves to pay for multiple consultations as those add up in cost quite quickly. From each according to their abilities, and to each according to their needs.
I think conservatives are just scared of us trans people because we're powerful enough to defy what they consider the natural order of things. We're so powerful in fact that we do so even when they do their best to stop us. And we always have.

You don't need to use weird spellings or algospeak for any topics on the Fediverse ("unalived", "seggs" etc). There is no automated moderation or algorithm on here, moderation happens entirely through human beings and posts are shown in chronological order.
In fact it's better that you use the correct spellings for difficult topics so that people with genuine traumas related to them can filter them more easily.
I find it somewhat disrespectful when people try to outwit other users' filters by mis-spelling common topics. People filter things for good reason and its not up to anyone else to determine what someone else should be seeing. Also, good use of hashtags (accurate, descriptive, but not too many) is really valuable as it allows both follows and blocks so people can curate their timelines properly.

I think they've just picked up these habits from commercial platforms that use automated moderation that suppresses anything mentioning specific words.

I was fairly active on Twitter before it sold out, and you *had* to twist your words like that if you didn't want their algorithms limiting your reach, suspending you, or outright banning you. Basically all of the popular commercial platforms are like this nowadays. And once you get used to typing like that it can be hard to break the habit.
I honestly didn't even know that was a thing. Which means I'm (a) old and (b) spending the majority of my social media time on the Fediverse and I'm not unhappy about either of those things 😁
Yeah, lots of YouTube videos weirdly fade out the sound or distort it if certain words ("murder", "drugs" etc) are used. They are trying to avoid being demoted by YouTube's algorithm.
Same goes for Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook etc etc.
considering "seggs" as a filter evasion always makes me pause for a moment since I was frequenting circles that sometimes replaces hard consonants with soft ones because it sounded funny. For example "Gadse" instead of "Katze" (german for "cat") and I kinda took it for a much more widespread phenomenon than it probably was.

I've taken to capitalizing "The Algorithm" in the sense of the manipulative sorts of algorithms referred to here. After all, people are referring to a very specific phenomenon with a very specific design goal when they say that, and not to algorithms generally, without which computers simply wouldn't function.
I think it's useful to treat technical vocab separately in general and technical contexts? Quite often technical terms migrate into a general use with a related but slightly different meaning.
When non-tech people say "algorithm" they almost always mean a manipulative opaque system that messes around with their timeline in unclear ways.
Another example is "computer", which almost always means a laptop or desktop but technically it could mean a phone, watch, microwave etc etc.
Weird spelling or the use of emoji may also impact screenreader use. I haven't tested out myself what "patr€on" sounds like, and while 🍏🍏 may be obvious to (some) sighted users, I'm not sure about anyone else. (Though honestly, it wasn't obvious to me without the context of the post.)
Yeah. I know about the "please don't use unicode for prettier fonds" thing, but it also affects on the smaller scale. That's awful. (And really not necessary here, as posts containing the word are not shadowbanned or restricted or anything.)
My Firefox addon got approved! It ensures i.imgur.com, preview.redd.it, i.reddit.com and media.tumblr.com actually send you an image when visiting links instead of redirecting to a page with a bunch of proprietary javascript!

To be fair, the Ponzi scheme is pretty much a constant. The whole idea is investing in a system that most of the time simply cannot produce value. So any value extracted by investors has to be the funds injected by other investors. It's not really 1-to-1 with a proper Ponzi scheme, but close enough.

I'm still traumatised by getting that reaction from my friends the first time I told them about my diagnosis. A decade and a half later and I still have imposter syndrome about my own diagnosis.
Maybe the doctors were wrong and my friends were right all along? Maybe I'm actually just a worthless, lazy piece of shit?
I've only recently got diagnosed and I've been very selective on who I tell it. So far, only my dad and current gf know. The real irony is that my ex, a psychologist, never raised a suspicion, not even as a joke, that I might be one.
If it helps, like often attracts like. My diagnosis was delayed because my wife insisted I was normal. It turns out we both have ADHD and autism. 🤷♂️ Also, an impressive number of our friend have now been diagnosed as various neurodiversities. It set off a bit of a chain reaction.

Reply guy is an internet slang term for someone who excessively responds to social media posts, often in an annoying, condescending, or overly familiar or flirtatious manner.
Those people are awful and not who I meant. I'm talking about reply guys who point out that your joke doesn't work because it is factually incorrect. They (reply guy can be any gender) can see how it would be funny if it were that way but alas it is not.

I've now had several clients come to me to take over projects that another agency was working on because the other agency started using generative AI. Apparently there was a real drop in product quality. I wonder why.
